Hätt ich da Geld und Know How würde ich mir das sogar ernsthaft überlegen. Ich mein, auf dem gleichen Arcade-Board laufen ja auch SFIV, Guilty Gear, Blaze Blue, weitere SNK-Spiele der Zukunft und sicher noch so einiges anderes mehr... ein Traumgerät. DAS sollten sie als Pseudoheimkonsole ala Neo Geo rausbringen, Tag 1-Kauf ^^

This week's Famitu brings the latest news on King Of Fighters XII, starting off with an announcement that SNK Playmore is planning to beta test the game just one month away in April. The magazine also gives some first details on the game's system.
-The multi-shift system from 2003 has been abolished and the game is returning to the old 3-on-3 elimination style matchups.

--What kind of a matchup will KOFXII feature? SNKP: Rather than the multishift system from KOFXI, this game (KOFXII) will adopt the traditional 3-on-3 elimination style battle system that's been used since KOF94. By returning to the traditional format and revising the game system that's gotten too complex, we're aiming for a game balance that's playable even for beginners. Instead of complicated combos that makes full use of the game's system, we want to put emphasis on "reading the opponent's mind".
--Is the guard system a part of that? SNKP: We'll only say that it's a "very offensive system". We plan to make it a system where you can hit back an opponent's attack so that (the player's) offense and defence switches sides.
--What kind of an effect does the "Sousai" (clash) system have SNKP: The attack detection on both sides will disappear and you'll have to start over again. We've added a lot of (elements) to this system as well.
--Final words to the fans please SNKP: All of our staffs are working off their heart and blood to make this the best 2D fighting game ever. This game is the result of what we insisted on developing in 2D. Please look forward to seeing it, both in terms of graphics and gameplay.

Let's just say that the animation of each and every character will just awe you, as well as the game play system. We wouldn't comment on this blindly, so just take our word for it and when it's released, you'll most likely agree that KOF XII will be the fighter to beat in 2008.
Side Note: At GDC 2008, I had the pleasure of meeting the Director of SNK, Mr. Soichiro Hosoya. He was describing the artistic style that was used in KOF XII. (Hopefully I am explaining this correctly). The amount of hard work and time that is put into creating KOF XII is much more time consuming than creating a full 3-D character. In KOF XII, to create a 3-D effect while maintaining the true 2-D aspects of the gameplay, each frame has to be hand drawn, unlike a polygon model which, one textured, is rendered on the fly and takes less time to produce. The unique characteristics of KOF XII is that each character uses a 3-D model as a guide (to hand draw in the shades) for the artist to painstakingly draw each frame over it . What this does is give the 'sprite' a 3-D effect instead of an image that looks flat (e.g. Guilty Gear sprites).

Selbes gilt für die angeblichen weiteren Charaktere, endgültige Bestätigung von SNKP selbst steht noch aus, trotzdem mein Kommentar dazu:
Raiden->Wieso nicht als Big Bear ? Würde mir besser gefallen. Ryo->War zu erwarten, denoch freue ich mich sehr das er wohl wieder dabei ist. Robert Garcia->Sehr gut, endlich wieder offiziell dabei. Andy->Geil, endlich wieder Andy, zocke zwar so gut wie nie mit ihm, aber als einer des legendären Fatal Fury Trios muß er einfach mit dabei sein. Keith-> 
Warten wir mal auf die offizielle Bestätigung bevor wir in Jubelstürme ausbrechen (Ich warte immer noch auf Mai & Geese) aber das klingt schonmal nicht schlecht: Ryo, Robert plus Andy und Raiden aus Fatal Fury

Der Look test soll laut gamefront verschoben worden sein und nun in den nächsten tage stattfinden.
Und Jep Athena schaut ja mega hammer scheiße aus auf dem Bild. Passt auch artwork technisch null zu Kyo und Ash finde ich

Let's just say that if the first teaser video blew you away, you will be blown away even more when more footage is released from SNK Playmore JP.
We say this with no artificial hype. There is no other fighting game that pays attention to such detail. Every character animation, background, music and most importantly, game play is tediously perfected.
If you ever wanted to see what Ralf will look like on steroids, you will. Even you wanted to see Andy look like the true humpback thug he is, you will. If you ever wanted to to see Raiden move like the agile "Bear" he truly is, you will (no longer is he dull or boring, but more dynamic and animated), you will. If you wanted to see a ROTD/DD (Billy) character in action vs. KOF characters, well, you're in for a neat surprise.
With KOF XII, there is no hype, only a project that has been extensively researched and developed to unprecedented levels.
The first video made you awe, the second will make you jizz. Well, in a G-Rated manner for those younger folks.
