Israel Prepares to Invade Syria

Tehran, July 17, IRNA

Lebanon-Palestine-Speaker
Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad Adel here Sunday evening condemned the ongoing atrocities of the Zionist regime in Palestinian occupied lands and Lebanon.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the first International Conference on Women Rights and Responsibilities in the Islamic System, he empathized with mothers of martyrs and the wounded in Palestine who have experience the greatest sorrow and hardship during the nation's 60 years of resistance against the Zionist regime.

The Zionist regime wants to destroy Palestinian and Lebanese infrastructures in order to make life unbearable for the people and force them to abandon their resistance to the occupying regime, he added.

As to the power of the resistance movement and the Muslim people of Palestine, Haddad-Adel pointed to the sinking Friday of a Zionist navy warship by Lebanese Muslims.

Referring to the package of incentives offered by the world's six powers (Group 5+1) to Iran, he said Tehran was ready to negotiate on the new Western proposals.

He underlined the need for taking confidence-building measures by both sides and called for recognition of Iran's legal right to pursue peaceful uses of nuclear energy.

Iran, on June 6, was offered a package of incentives by the UN Security Council's five permanent members -- Russia China, US, UK and France -- plus Germany (5+1 Group) through EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana in exchange for suspension of uranium enrichment and resumption of talks to settle the dispute over its nuclear program.

Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel said here Sunday that it is impossible to establish peace in the Middle East region as long as the Zionist regime exists.

Addressing the open session of the Majlis, the speaker added, "Israel is the symbol of injustice and brutality."
He condemned Zionists' atrocities on Lebanon and said the Zionist regime savagely attacked Lebanon even before the blood of the oppressed Palestinians was yet to dry.

"Conscience of peoples throughout the world considers the Zionist regime as the root of conspiracies ... Whenever the United Nations Security Council intends to issue a resolution against the regime, the United State vetoes it.

"The US has discredited the UN and the Security Council through its meaningless support for the regime," he said.

He added, "Gone is the time when the Zionist regime can infiltrate into Islamic states and do whatever its wishes.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran praises and reaffirms the resistance of the Lebanese people and officially recognizes their right to defend their land."
He called on all awakened conscience, Islamic governments and nation to use all their potentials to prevent the Zionists' brutal acts.

"Israel should know that the Islamic world will not give up its right to support the oppressed Palestinian people."
He expressed hope that resistance would win in Lebanon, saying the Zionist regime would be forced to leave Lebanese territory through resistance of the Lebanese people.

"Although the Zionist regime has not entered the Lebanese territory yet, it will regret its atrocities," Haddad-Adel said.

Palestine-Lebanon-Rally
Thousands of Tehranis staged a rally in the Iranian capital Tuesday to condemn the atrocities of the Zionist regime in occupied Palestine and Lebanon.

Several senior Iranian officials, members of political groups, organizations and parties, university students and people from various walks of life attended the rally.

The rally is being held to condemn the savage Zionist attacks on Lebanon and Palestine in an ongoing offensive which has led to the martyrdom of hundreds of defenseless people as well as the hostage taking of Palestinian officials in the Hamas-led government by the Zionist regime.
