basically, you have to do three things:
  1. install the appropiate Debian package in the terminals chroot
  2. set up local authentication
  3. create a script available for ordinary users on the (application) server
for 2) look out for nis under "server configuration"
for 3) take terminal_mtoolsfm as example (under "Files", see menu at upper right corner of this page).
